1957 Whirlwind 18
Lucy B is a 1957 Whirlwind 18 ft. with 35hp correct vintage motor and controls. Registered in Canada to keep the goldleaf Reg Number in place. Fairly fresh restoration at about 95% complete. Motor rebuilt, but needs some work. Easy entry into the world of classic boating! Whilwinds were made using tools and tech from WWII vacuum baked molded plywood glider airplanes! http://www.woodyboater.com/blog/2009/03/02/whirlwind-boats/ tells the story.

1962 Lyman 21
Purchased across Henderson Harbor at Snowshoe Bay, where she was stored in a boathouse with a hanging trolley system. Neat boat! The 21 is a really nice size for leisurely cruising. Equipped with a Gray Marine V8. I didn't like the original "side" draft carb, which actually tipped downward due to the engine angle, and allowed fuel to spill out to the bilge. Cornell's Marina converted the manifold and carb to a top draft Rochester carb and raised up the doghouse to make it all fit. Cleaned, coated and reinstalled fuel tank.
Trivia: These boats carry the "Klinkerbuilt" tag. Klinkerbuilt was the wood plank lapstrake (overlapping) construction developed by the Vikings! Lighter and stronger. Vikings used rivets, Lyman used screws.
